The first week of November has been newsworthy for the home health and hospice care sectors.

The Home Health Final Rule, CMS-1747-F, was released on Tuesday afternoon.   If that wasn’t enough to digest, both OSHA and CMS released rules on COVID-19 vaccination.  There’s a lot of information to be processed in the coming days.  However in regard to the Final Rule, two announcements will help cheer your way into the weekend.  First, the home health wage index update which was proposed to be 1.8% was finalized at a higher rate of 2.6%.  Secondly, the Home Health Value Based Purchasing Model will go into effect nationwide beginning in January, but CY 2022 will be a learning year for home health agencies.  This is very good news.  On the issue of COVID-19, both OSHA and CMS finalized guidance on vaccinations.  The big take-away is that CMS’ rule takes precedence over the OSHA ETS rule when both are applicable to the organization.  MAC Legacy is dedicated to sorting through all the details, but in the meantime, buckle up friends!
