MS is a chronic neurological condition that affects the central nervous system and even though there is a lot of research being done, the cause of MS is not known. In 2017 there were almost a million people diagnosed with some form of MS and even though the rate of progression varies widely, the disease will frequently affect mobility in some way. As healthcare professionals provide care for patients with MS they should be knowledgeable about the disease and how it can progress. Home care plays an important role for patients with advanced stage MS by providing education, disease management, medication management, fall risk education and mitigation, therapy services, aide services, and personal assistance services to help keep that patient at home and as independent as possible.
